3 Provide convenient collective transport
Collective transport,
such as public transport or company buses, can be an attractive
alternative to car users. However, for it to be an attractive alternative,
services need to be convenient, both in terms of frequencies, speed
and route network. Company bicycles and collective taxis can also
be used to link the workplace to public transport services.

4 Making collective transport more attractive
Convenient collective
transport is of prime importance. However, the quality of the journey
is also important. Provision of safe and attractive walking links
to stops is important. The stops and stations themselves also need
to have good waiting facilities, which are well lit. Finally, the
vehicles themselves need to be comfortable. All three elements are
essential components of the public transport journey and it is important
to ensure each is of good quality.

8 Provide alternative modes for work related trips
If employees have
to use their own cars for business and service trips, this means
that they have no alternative but to drive to work. Therefore, if
pool cars or alternative modes can be provided for business trips,
they may be able to use alternative modes for the home-work journey.
