Energy efficient car use

If a lot of employees (have to) use cars for home-work or business trips, you can encourage them to drive in a more energy efficient manner or use a more economical vehicle.

 

Sub-measure 1 Energy efficient company cars

If your company has lots of company cars, you could consider replacing them with more energy-efficient models. Even if these cars cost more to buy, there is likely to be a long term cost saving through reduced fuel costs.

Sub-measure 2 Eco-driving course, energy efficient car use

Driving techniques can save energy by reducing fuel consumption. Such techniques can be learned on courses. This is an activity which does not reduce the number of car trips but does reduce pollution, contributes to better road and it has the positive benefit of reduced fuel costs.

- Park and ride

Park and ride is the combination of a car trip and a public transport trip. It can be used to reduce private car use in city centres (the last part of the trip), but it is even better to encourage employees to drive from home to nearby public transport stops. In this last case, the reduction of private vehicle mileage can be much higher.
