Provide alternative modes for work related trips

If employees have to use their own cars for business and service trips, this means that they have no alternative but to drive to work. Therefore, if pool cars or alternative modes can be provided for business trips, they may be able to use alternative modes for the home-work journey.

 

Sub-measure 1 More efficient car use for work-related trips

Measures to make more efficient use of cars in work-related trips may mean that some employees do not need to drive to work, using either their own or a company car. This should lead to an overall reduction in numbers of employees driving to work.

Sub-measure 2 Pool cycles for work-related trips

In cities the bicycle can be an attractive alternative mode of transport for business trips, replacing the car or even public transport. For short distance trips, the bicycle can offer unrivalled speed and convenience, if it is not necessary to carry large or heavy items. The benefit for the company is a cost reduction (reduced car mileage allowance, reduced number of pool cars, reduced parking demand).
